From Behind the Iron Curtain to Membership in the European Union
Honoring its 40th anniversary, UT Dallas has organized a yearlong series of events and celebrations. I was asked to deliver a presentation about the changes experienced in Eastern Europe over the last four decades. Watch the presentation.
On November 2, 2009, just a couple of weeks before the 20th anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down and the Velvet Revolution taking place in Czechoslovakia, I delivered a 45-minute personal account of the transformation in Eastern Europe since the end of the Cold War, and its impact on international business.
A number of audience members spoke to me after the presentation to express their appreciation for the expanded perspective on the political, social, economical and cultural changes in Eastern Europe.
I am grateful for the opportunity to share my experiences and viewpoints while expanding the historical perspective of UTD students and community members.
My photographs from Europe are featured during the Q&A session. Enjoy!
